Donald Burhans, 78, died Saturday August 19, 2006 in a local hospital. Born May 27, 1928, in Amsterdam, N.Y., he lived in San Marcos for eight years and in San Diego County for 25 years. He owned and operated California Mobility for 18 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Burhans is survived by his wife of 27 years, Johanna H. Burhans of San Marcos; son Lee Benjamin Burhans of San Marcos, daughter Erin Burhans of San Marcos; Sisters Margaret Ladd of Escondido, Virginia Burhans of Canisteo, N.Y., and Helen Freeland of HOrnell, N.Y., and two grandsons. Private cremation and scattering at sea are planned. Allen Bros. Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel, is handling arrangements. (San Diego Tribune, August 22 2006)
