Funeral services for Dr. Lucius Lincoln Van Slyke, 72, internationally known chemist, who died yesterday, will be conducted Saturday afternoon. For 38 years, Dr. Van Slyke was head of the chemistry division of the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station. He was a major contributor to methods of standardization for the testing of milk, and fertilizer. This greatly helped the farmers. Among the books he wrote were, "Testing Milk Products", "The Science and Practice of Cheese Making," The Chemistry of Milk and Milk Products," and "Fertilizers and Crops."
He was born in Centerville, Jan. 6, 1859, and attended Pike Seminary.
