He served in the Royal Italian Army from 1896 until his death resulting from an avalanche at Casera Turrie in the Alps Mountains during World War I. His military honors and awards include 2 Silver Medals for Military Valor (Italy) ,Knight of the Military Order of Savoy (Italy), Bronze Medal for Military Valor (Italy), Knight of the Order of the Crown of Italy, and the French Croix de guerre.
