Goldie E. Babino
Goldie E. Babino, age 86, formerly of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the Crystal River Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waupaca.
Goldie was born on March 8, 1921, in Stevensville, Wis., a daughter of the late Peter and Caroline (Canter) Starfeldt. She attended school and later helped her mother care for her siblings. On Oct. 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Joseph Babino in Neenah. Following their marriage the couple lived in Neenah. She later moved to Shawano where she had been employed at Hotz Manufacturing for 25 years, retiring in 1986. While living in Shawano, Goldie shared her life and her home with Harvey Prey for many years. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1996. She is a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano.
Survivors include: her children, Marie Babino, Rose Babino of Clintonville, Mike (Connie) Babino of Bonduel, Jerome (Kay) Babino of Oconto, Carl (Lynda) Babino of Waupaca, Mary (Jim) Engebretson of Duluth, Minn., and Sandy (Ken) Burmeister of Shullsburg, Wis.; a step-son, George Babino of Caroline; a brother-in-law, Reuben Wegner of Chilton; 32 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: a son, John Babino; four sisters and a brother.
Funeral services for Goldie will be held on Monday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Pastor Michael Schram will be officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery of Shawano. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
