A celebration of life will be held for Ava Lee Myler, 72, of North Bend, at 11a.m. Sept. 6, at the Sunset Beach gazebo. Cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens Crematory, in Coos Bay.
Ava Lee was born Feb. 8, 1942, to Alda (Lee) Bales and Sidney Bales in Cottage Grove. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, July 27, 2014.
When she was 9 years old, her family moved to Gold Beach, where she graduated from high school in 1960.
Ava Lee was an active member of TOPS for 44 years. She was a devoted mom and grandmother. Her two cats, Cody and Leo, kept her company for many years.
Ava Lee is survived by her siblings, Loa Joy Allen of San Antonio, Texas, CloRene “Rene” and Dirk Ewing of Chico, Calif., and Rex and Sharon Bales of Yuma, Ariz.; daughters, Glenda Gray of North Bend, Teri and Lawrence Stermer of Nolanville, Texas, Velma and Joe Dery of Coquille and Crissi and Mike King of North Bend; grandchildren, Sidney King of Oregon, Nicholas McGlothlen of Texas, JR Dery of Oregon, Christopher McGlothlen of Oregon, Holli Dery of Oregon, Aaron Gray of Oregon, Megan Morrison of Texas, Gina Gray of Oregon, Tiffini Galvan of Oregon, Lydia Doll of Oregon, Austin Galvan of Oregon, Zane Galvan of Oregon, and Chance Dery of Oregon; and seven great-grandchildren.
Ava Lee was preceded in death by her infant son, Darrel King; her husband, John Myler Sr.; her niece, Cheryl Morlan; and parents, Sidney and Alda Bales.
The family suggests donations be made to Oregon Cat Project 342 B. Ave., Lake Oswego, OR 97034 in Cody and Leo’s name or Coos County Animal Shelter.
