Sky, short for Midnight Sky, was my light for the next 12 years. He was the sweetest, most loving dog a person could ever hope to share their life with. I trained him to do a lot of tricks such as 'shake' hands & paws with people, and he was a big hit with the elderly when we went to the retirement homes for pet therapy. Sky gave back so much love and devotion to everyone he met, especially his adopted family (myself, as well as a few rescued kitties from the same shelter). He was highly intelligent, and just loved to be around people. He was especially gentle and patient with small children.
The day came in August of 2006 when his arthritis pain was no longer manageable with medication. I held him in my arms as he was gently and painlessly euthanized by the veterinarian. His passing was a peaceful one.
I will never forget Sky or the impact he had on my life and the lives of all others he came into contact with. He could melt the hardest heart, and never failed to bring a smile to everyone's face.
Rest in peace, Buddy.
