He served with the US Marines from 1969-1970. He was wounded in combat in Quang Nam Province and received a Purple Heart for those wounds. Following his honorable discharge and 9 months of rehabilitation, Allen went to work for the US Post Office in Watertown until his retirement. He was a member of the Watertown Elks and a life member of the American Legion.
He was survived by his wife; two daughters, Terri Fox, and Tabitha Fox; a son Timothy Fox; a step-daughter Marilyn St. Laurent; three grandchildren; two brothers, Kevin and Robert; and two sisters, Karen (Tim) Combs and Deb Fox.
He was predeceased by his parents and his second wife, Rebecca Felts.
