James J. Wadsworth, 88, of Terre Haute died Tuesday morning, Dec. 20, 2005, in his residence. He was the retired founder of Wadsworth Furnace Co. He was born Nov. 8, 1917, in Indian Springs, to James L. Wadsworth and Emaline Fisher Wadsworth. His wife of 61 years, Helen Callahan Wadsworth, died May 19, 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Patti Nation and her husband, Van of Indianapolis; one son, J. Michael Wadsworth and his wife, Molly of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special friends, Bea Stewart and Ruth DeCamp; and many nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

He was a graduate of Wiley High School and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, Mo. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a bomber pilot and flight instructor in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of Terre Haute Social Lodge 86 Free & Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and Terre Haute Kiwanis Club. He completed the development of Stratford Hills Subdivision and was a former member of the Central Eastside Business Association.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home . Entombment is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
