Mardan "Mardy" Abrath, (nee Mudrinich)
Born November 27,1946, in Mercedes, Texas, Mardy lived for 72 memorable years until she passed away on January 21, 2019 at her home in St. Louis, Missouri with family present.
She led an exciting young life as part of a diplomatic family traveling around the world. She chose the University of Wisconsin, Madison, for her undergraduate degree in Political Science and attended the University of Missouri, St. Louis, earning her MBA. Mardy received the UMSL School of Business
Administration Anheuser Busch Marketing Award in April, 1985. While being employed at Monsanto/Solutia, Mardy continued to enjoy traveling, often spending time at her second home in St. Petersburg, Florida where she served on the board of her condo association. Besides being an avid golfer, her many exceptional artistic talents included stitchery, gardening sewing and upholstery, woodworking and creating stunning stained glass artwork. She loved taking trips with her stitchery friends to visit regional shops and exhibitions. As a member of her garden club, she especially enjoyed delivering flowers to local nursing home residents on their birthdays.
Mardy's strong support for women's rights inspired her participation in the 2016 Women's March in
Tampa, Florida. She was ever hopeful for the election of our first female president.
Mardy is missed by her husband, Fred Abrath, of 5l years; her sisters Barbara Mudrinich, Sandra
Mudrinich, Karen Beard and husband Bruce Fleming, and Peggy Opeka and husband Tim; sister-in-law
and brother-in-law Marge and Chuck Snider; nephews Chance and Darion Fleming and nieces Ryan Ricke
and Dana Snider; and dear friends and neighbors Jan Lang and Janet Kolmar.
We will never forget the love shown by friends and neighbors who shoveled snow, brought food, and came over to say a last good-bye to Mardy.
Our family wishes to thank BJC Home Hospice who provided the compassionate care and support that
enabled Mardy to spend her last moments at home with her family.
