Danville...........Richard Irvin Finney, age 83 of Danville died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his residence.

Born June 4, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Richard William Finney and Chattie Mae Jones Finney. He was predeceased by three brothers, Charlie Finney, Bill Finney, and James Edward Finney; and three sisters, Ann Dorsett, Louise Hamlett, and Irene Hamlett. Mr. Finney was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a former employee of Disston Inc. He enjoyed raising a garden and riding the tractor.

He is survived by his wife Mavis Clay Finney of the residence; five children, Curtis Finney of Danville, Pam Harding and husband, Thomas of Hohenwald, TN, Irvin Wayne Finney of Danville, Terry E. Finney and wife, Susan of Danville, and Jerry E. Finney and wife, Lori of Chatham; two step-children, Ronnie Jennings and wife, Dale of Nathalie, and Judy Jones and husband, Kemper of Nathalie; two brothers, Joe Finney and wife, Charmaine of Danville, and Cecil Finney of Danville; one sister, Mary Sue Garrett of Danville; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Dustin Dickens and Rev. Bob Yeaman.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4401 Westover Drive, Danville, VA 24541, or to Bachelors Hall Volunteer Fire Department, 1301 Berry Hill Road, Danville, VA 24541.
