Mrs. Fairchild was the daughter of the late Judge Abraham and Susan Butler Tappen, old residents of the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx, the site of whose homestead and estate is now a part of Poe Park, Grand Concourse and Kingsbridge Road, in which is located the cottage home of Edgar Allen Poe.
