Robert “Bob” Barnes, 70, passed away while surrounded by family Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in Spokane.

Bob was born in Forest Lake, Minn., to Irven and Pearl Barnes, on May 6, 1949. They then moved to Lewiston in 1954. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1968. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country, touring Europe and serving in the Vietnam War. His ranking was third class and he performed a variety of jobs, one of which was preparing meals for the ship’s captain.

Upon his discharge from the service, he worked at Potlatch/Clearwater Paper for more than 32 years.

In retirement, he decided to go back to school at Lewis-Clark State College to get his associate’s degree and welding certification.

He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and loved to build and was happy to give back when he could. He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, dancing and riding his Harley motorcycles.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, enjoyed the camaraderie and loved to dance whenever possible.

Bob is survived by his daughter, D’Lynn (Tim); two grandchildren, Cameron and Hayden; and his sister, Kathy (Joe).

He was preceded in death by both parents, Irven and Pearl Barnes, owners of the Come In Cafe in Clarkston.

Bob spent years helping build homes with Habitat for Humanity. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be mailed to Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 317, Clarkston, WA 99403.
