Mrs. Viola Chatfield, 57, of Fountain passed away Saturday evening at the Mason County Medical Facility where she had been a patient for the past three months.
She was born Feb. 8, 1918 in Pontiac. She was married to Harlan Chatfield on June 17, 1939. He survives. She was a member of the Fountain Methodist Church and was an Avon representative.
She is survived, in addition to her husband, by three sons, William of Highland, John of Hart and Donald at home; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Cargill of Davison, Mrs. Laurence (Janice) Laiskonis of Highland and Mrs. Walter (Virginia) Engleberg of route 1 Free Soil; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Harmon of Wheaton, MD., Lucile Breen and Blanch Cross, both of Ferndale.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Stephens Funeral Chapel in Scottsville with Russell Garrigus officiating. Interment will be in the Fountain Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today to receive friends.
