Homa Ray Short - “Ray” - passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 75 years on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.

Ray was born on June 27, 1943, to Charles and Lucille (Hill) Short in Vancouver, Washington. On April 9, 1966, he married Linda Golden in Denver, Colorado. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and received an honorable discharge after serving four years active duty and two years inactive reserves with the USMC, including a tour in Vietnam.

In February 1967 he began working for Texaco as a roustabout and continued for 35 years ending as a Senior Production Supervisor for Chevron/Texaco. Supporting his wife, Linda's business of dog grooming, he also enjoyed showing their Cocker Spaniels at New Mexico and Texas dog shows. He finished two champions. His retirement years were spent doing extensive genealogy research of his family and friends. He was a loving husband for 52 years and an exceptional father. His life was a great example for his children and grandchildren to follow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Jann Elizabeth Perry.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Linda May Short; children, Marcie Jane Buck and husband, Timothy of Vero Beach, Florida; Charles Ray Short and wife, Robin of Lubbock; and Thomas Edward Short and wife, Kelee of Wolfforth; eight grandchildren; sister, Lorene Kay Morris and husband, Jesse Ray of St. Francisville, Louisiana, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
