Services for Irene Genevieve Blagg of Nevada City will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Nevada City chapel of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
Mrs. Blagg died Saturday, Nov. 20, at home. She was 71.
She was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Hollis, Okla., to William and Lillian (Simon) McClain. She and her family moved from Albuquerque, N.M. to Linda in 1948. She married Marvin Blagg in December 1955, and they lived in Stockton, moving to the family ranch in Nevada City in 1968. She was a Gold Card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and a life member of the Nevada County Horsemen, Inc., where she held many offices. She served on the board for the Nevada County Livestock Producers Association and was a supporter of Nevada County agriculture youth. She and Marvin were inducted into the Nevada County Fair Hall of Fame in 2002. She was involved in numerous community and service clubs including the Nevada City Garden Club, the Royal Red Hatters, and WPAC.
She is survived by her sons, Karl, Mike and Timothy; daughters-in-law Gail, Leslie, and Rene; grandchildren Tyler, Kelsey, Timothy, Jr., and Graham; nephews Ray McClain and his wife, Colleen and their children Mike and Angela, and Roy McClain and his daughters Roylene and Channa.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Marvin; mother and father Lillian Thompson and William McClain; brother Billy McClain; and stepfather Karl Thompson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marv and Irene Blagg Ag Student Scholarship Fund, c/o Mike Blagg, 10289 Running M Drive, Grass Valley 95949.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
