The son of Sir Thomas Buxton and Lady Anne Buxton. Educated at Broadstairs and Eton, where he was Captain of the Boats and President of Pop. He left Eton in December 1916 and in January 1917 joined the Coldstream Guards for service during World War I. He was awarded the Military Cross for heroism during battle near Maubeuge, France, in November 1918. He was demobilized in April 1919 and entered Trinity College, Cambridge. He rowed for Cambridge in the Henley Regatta in July 1919 and in the Inter-Allied Games in Paris. He died on 08 August 1919 of complications from pneumonia.
