William E. Addis Sr., 66, of Connellsville Township, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at his residence. He was born June 25, 1938, in Connellsville, a son of the late Edward and Ada (Burley) Addis. During the Vietnam era, William served as a medic with the National Guard. Later, he was employed by Anchor Hocking for 42 years as a tow motor operator until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of Hickory Square Methodist Church, King Solomon's Lodge No. 346, F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Council Chapter Consistory, Connellsville Royal Arch Chapter No. 283, St. Omer's Commandery No. 7 Knights Templar and South Connellsville Rod & Gun Club.
He is survived by four sons, William E. Addis Jr. and wife, Faith, of Connellsville, Robert A. Addis Sr. of Connellsville, Jeffrey D. Addis Sr. and wife, Kelly, of South Connellsville and James F. Addis and wife, Christine, of Connellsville; seven grandchildren, William E. Addis III and fiancee, Mindy King, Stormie R. Bushmire and fiance Todd Miner, Terra L. Addis and fiance George Jay, Jeffrey D. Addis Jr., Lauren N. and Robert A. Addis Jr. and Alaina E. Addis; four great-grandchildren, William E. Addis IV, Jagger Addis, Jaden M. Bushmire and George W. Jay Jr.; nine brothers and sisters, Betty Foore of Chicago, Ill., George Wettgen of South Connellsville, Donald Wettgen of Connellsville, Louise Hertznell of Juniata, Carol Estrada of Connellsville, Nancy Soltis of Connellsville, Charles Addis Sr. of Connellsville, Jessie James Addis of Connellsville and Richard Addis of Connellsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Nellie J. Addis, on Jan. 3, 2003; and a brother, Francis R. Addis. Friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, tonight from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday from noon to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., the hour of the funeral service with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
