Obituary of Emily Ann "Ella" (Smart) Barnard
The death of Mrs. Barnard deserves more than a mere passing mention. Her disease was Scrofulous Consumption, and all was done that science, skill and love could suggest, but in vain; and when she began to realize that death had claimed her for its own, then appeared that resignation and faith that only a believing heart possesses, that God is good and doeth all thins well.
She died as she had lived, one of those bright, happy, useful and joyous Christians, that honor God in all their words, works, and example.
To her bereaved husband and motherless children, and all mourning friends, we extend the hand of sympathy and christian fellowship, believing she has only "gone before, awaiting them all on the shining shore."
