On April 5, 1944, Annelle married her true love, James Taylor Virdell, who was serving as an aerial engineer in the United States Air Force during the war. Taylor’s service took them to Marfa, Texas, Rantoul, Illinois, and Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Returning to Llano, the Virdell’s began together to build their business, Virdell Drilling, Inc. Life long partners, always supportive of all of Taylor’s endeavors, Annelle worked in the company as office manager and secretary for many years, while also raising their three children. While Taylor served on numerous boards and held offices on a state and national level in the water well industry. These responsibilities required that they travel throughout the United States, which gave them both many cherished memories.
Annelle was passionate about her Llano roots and devoted many hours serving her community in many capacities. She was also an avid golfer, and was one of the founding members of the Llano Women’s Golf Association.
Annelle loved and served her Lord as a faithful member of Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church. Her service not only included her local church, but extended into the Emmaus Community and the prison ministry, Kairos. Her Christian faith was evident in the way she lived, a woman of enormous character, and generous devotion to her husband, family and friends.
Proceeding her in death was her husband of 70 years, James Taylor Virdell, and her parents.
Surviving Annelle are her two daughters, Vicki Miller and husband Frosty, Constance Milliorn and husband Walter J., and one son, James Taylor Virdell, Jr. and wife Brenda; seven grandchildren and their spouses that lovingly called her “G”; fifteen great grandchildren; three great, great, grandchildren; her sisters, Alberta Broughton and Alice Carole Schroth; two sisters-in-law, Annette Ussery and Sis Virdell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebration and thankfulness for the life of Annelle will be February 6, 2020 at Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church.
