He was born In Forest Dale July 5, 1878, the son of John and Annie (Wonder) Bernor.
As a young child he lived for a few years in Massachusetts but had spent the rest of his life in Forest Dale. He was educated In the public schools in Forest Dale and Brandon.
Mr. Bernor was in the grocery business for more than 50 years in the same building, first in partnership with the late Wilbur Avery and then alone.
In 1899, he married Ellen Leonard, who survives. On April 26, Mr. and Mrs. Bernor observed their 52nd wedding anniversary.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bernor is survived by a daughter, Inez.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Forest Dale and served in the vestry for several years. He was also a member of St Paul's Lodge of Masons and Farmers Chapter of Royal Arch Masons and was active in civic affairs.
The funeral was held at Grace Church Sunday, Rev. Richard Foster officiating.
Burial was in Forest Dale Cemetery.
Bearers were Welland Horn, Leslie Forguites, George Jennings, Burton Baker, Archie Johnson and Grant Crotto.
