Margaret Katherine McIntosh

Tempe (1923 - 2018) - Margaret Katherine McIntosh (Marge), 94, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away on 2 February 2018 of natural causes.

Marge was born in Portland, Oregon on 24 August 1923. She completed her education in Oregon, graduating from Marylhurst University, Marylhurst, Oregon.

After university Marge married Donald Lester McIntosh and was happily married for almost 60 years, until his passing. Marge and family followed Donald and his career from Seattle to New York, to Columbus and then Dayton, Ohio. In retirement Marge and Don moved back to their northwest roots where they settled in Seabeck, and later Gig Harbor, Washington; before finally settling in Fountain Hills, Arizona to be closer to kids and grandkids.

Marge was a proud and hardworking daughter of Gilbert and Ann Broten, immigrants from Norway via Ellis Island, New York. Everyone who knew Marge knew her love for family and friends, her grace, intelligence and wonderful sense of humor. She was athletic, even in her senior years, walking, golfing and playing tennis, and she loved watching baseball, especially the Seattle Mariners, and later the Arizona Diamondbacks. An avid reader, she read the Wall Street Journal and Arizona Republic most ever day of her life after moving from the Pacific Northwest to Arizona.

Over the years Marge was active in many community organizations, especially through the Lutheran Church. She spent most of her adult life in a supportive role to Don and his career, and to her family. Her support and encouragement will be forever appreciated by all who knew her.

Marge is predeceased by her husband Don, her daughter Pamela Ann McIntosh, and her brother Arthur Broten. She is survived by her son Scott and his wife Kim; grandchildren Kyle McIntosh (Samantha), and Jessica LaPota (Jason) and great grandchildren McKenzie and Charlie McIntosh, and Logan LaPota.

A private family funeral service was held on Thursday, 8 February at Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park, Seattle, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, Arizona. The family of Margaret Katherine McIntosh wishes to thank Hospice of the Valley and the staff of Friendship Village, Tempe, Arizona for their love and care.
