MICHAEL BROGAN BURNS

Brogan Burns of Alexandria, VA died unexpectedly on Monday, August 24, 2020. He was the devoted son of Christopher and Diane Burns of Alexandria. VA. He was the little brother to Matthew 'Conor' Burns of Alexandria, VA, and Shannon Lee Burns of San Francisco, CA.

Brogan was a Senior at West Potomac High School and had previously attended Bishop Ireton High School, Carl Sandburg Middle School, and Belleview Elementary School in Alexandria.

He was an ardent Altar Boy for 7 years at the Basilica of St. Mary in Alexandria, VA, who despite the parental enforcement holds the record of serving Mass 143 times while only twice wearing socks that matched.

Brogan possessed an outstanding wit, an impish smile, and a capacity for wicked come-backs. This impressed even the most seasoned comedians. He was an avid student of anything Google and nothing classroom. Much to the dismay of his teachers, he was always smart but rarely prepared for that day's exam. But his self-taught ability to sketch, paint, compose and play music left most in amazement.

Brogan maintained a unique style of dress that seemed to be a cross of both current hip hop and retro loungewear.

He was a great artist, musician, gamer, and a baseball pitcher with a significant fastball that his father stopped catching two years ago in an effort to preserve the bones in his hand.

He leaves behind six uncles and aunts, thirteen cousins and his grandmother Donna Clark, of Villisca, IA. The loss of this spirited young man leaves us all heartbroken, but none more so than his sweetheart Sami. Together we will continue to cherish Brogan's imprint on our hearts.

A viewing is to held on Friday, August 28, 2020, at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home from 10 am until 2 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 3:30 pm at the Basilica of St. Mary in Old Town Alexandria, VA.

Brogan passed away from a drug overdose.
