Cecil J. Spears of Meaford Dies [Cecil J. Spears Laid to Rest]
Meaford. Sept. 19 [Sept. 22] — Cecil J. Spears, a resident of Meaford since 1903 died at his residence on Centre St. [Louisa St.] here on Monday evening. He had been in failing health for the past 16 months [after a lenthy illness due to heart trouble] . The late Mr. Spears, who was in his 73rd year, had resided in Tara district [resided in Toronto, having previously lived in Whitby and Tara] before moving to Meaford 47 [42] years ago. During his lengthy residence here he made a host of friends who will learn with the deepest regret of his passing. He attended Meaford United Church.
The late Mr. Spears is survived by his wife , the former [Margaret] Maggie Hall [of Tara], three [four] daughters and one son, [Marjorie, Mrs. W. Thrush of Weston; Dorothy, Mrs. H. W. Harland of Toronto;] Wilfred, of Meaford [; Helen, Mrs. H. D. Meredith of Barrie, and Joyce of Toronto, and fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Frank Bergstrom of Muskegon, Mich; Mrs. D. A. Sinclair of Winnipeg; Mrs. W. Cook of Orillia, and Robert of Lansing, Mich].
