Elizabeth was born on May 23, 1917, in Tacoma, Washington. Her biological mother was Ruth (Jennings) Alexander, but she was adopted by George Leland Case and Vienna Neel of Tacoma, Washington, on Nov. 5, 1917.

"[Elizabeth] was a graduate of Washington State College and received her master's degree in social work from the University of Washington. Her career with the American Red Cross began in 1941 as field representative on the national staff in Spokane. She also served in Port Angeles, in Minnesota, Richland, and finally Everett where she held the post of executive secretary. She retired in 1958. Mrs. Peterson and her husband, Harold, moved to Grayland where they owned and operated the Log Cabin Court until 1975. Mr. Peterson died in 1976. Mrs. Peterson was active in the annual Driftwood Derby Show. She moved to Panorama City in 1977."

Elizabeth died of congestive heart failure in the Panorama City Convalescent Center, Lacey, Washington, on March 21, 1981.
