Son of Roland & Genevieve Courtad
Married Michelle Barlow 9-21-1984Terry Courtad, 57, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013. Terry was born on May 7, 1956, to Roland and Genevieve Courtad in Independence, Ohio. He graduated from Independence High School in 1975. With a love for carpentry and building, Terry soon fell into work that revolved around construction. He worked for VIP 2001 from 1978 - 1981, traveling and building 2001 Nightclubs. In 1978, friends introduced Terry to Michelle Barlow at a local party. They married on September 21, 1984, in Independence, Ohio. Terry and Michelle were married 29 years and were best friends, sharing many years of happiness. Terry was the biggest supporter of his family's dreams. In 1983, he and Michelle relocated to the Dallas area for her advertising career. They eventually bought a home in Lewisville and became parents when their daughter, Melissa, was born on February 12, 1989. When Melissa became a trampolinist with Olympic goals, Terry was there every step of the way, supporting her until she retired from the sport after achieving "Elite" athlete status. In Lewisville, Terry started his own business, The Installation Group, a company that installed store fixtures for various clients, including Blockbuster, Inc. Later, he began a career with The Professional Installation Network in nearby Irving as their Logistics Manager, a career that lasted 14 years. In addition to his love of carpentry and woodworking, Terry loved attending and watching pro-football games and NASCAR races. He was a tinkerer and never stopped moving. On any given day, you might find him working on a home repair or remodeling project, doing yard work, or building something in his "man cave," the garage he had outfitted with a TV, air conditioner and his tools. He also loved to travel. Although Terry was a quiet man, he had a dry, witty sense of humor that often went undetected by anyone other than family and close friends. The Bible says: For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). Terry was, indeed, a servant of the Lord, with endless kindness, compassion, and good works for those around him. A good and honest man, he never walked away from a person in need. Terry will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Michelle, and daughter, Melissa; his mother; his brothers and sisters and their spouses; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
