Youssef was born in Lebanon. His father was Palestinian, his mother Lebanese.
His mother Mona Abboud (she has the same family name as her husband !) had divorced and lived with Youssef and daughter Nancy in Naqaoura (South-Lebanon) in a zone occupied by Israeli forces. I met Mona during my UNO Blue Helmets mission (1997-98), and married her in Belgium on May 7th 1999 .
Mona, Youssef, and Nancy have acquired Belgian nationality.

We divorced in 2005.

Youssef passed away in hospital; he lost his fight against cancer and lethal infection after a heart transplantation.
