Frank M. Keiter, died peacefully at home on March 17, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous 2-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born on June 17, 1951 in Des Moines, IA to Robert and Wava Keiter, he was the fourth of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tammy; his sons, Brad and Joe; his 5 siblings: Pat Russell (Paul), Robert Keiter, Jr. (Jean), Janice Warren (Mike), Jim Keiter (Laurie) and Mary Host (John), as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Frank graduated from Hoover High School in 1970 and went on to study Horticulture and Building Trades at DMACC, receiving degrees in both. He worked for Principal Life for many years utilizing his Horticulture expertise beautifying the interior of buildings and exterior grounds. Later, in his career he worked for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department until he retired.

Frank’s love and devotion to his family was his primary driver in life. Tammy was the love of his life, his soulmate, rock and confidant. A true hands-on dad, he was immensely proud of his two sons. Brad and Joe were his pride and joy. He loved his dog, Angus.

Frank was the life of the party, a born comedian, and people person. He had a positive outlook and spread love and laughter wherever he went.

Frank was naturally artistic and creative, which led to his passion for gardening. He had an enormous vegetable garden in his backyard, cultivating and winning the coveted Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbons numerous years in a row for his tomatoes and ghost peppers.

Frank touched many lives. He was loved and respected and will be missed by many.

Our deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Mission Cancer and Blood, and to Dr. Sean Cunningham and Dr. Daniel Buroker, and UnityPoint Hospice-Des Moines. Thank you all for your loving, professional and dedicated care.
