Hundred Attend Impressive Funeral Services Held at St. Vincent's Church Last Friday
Hundreds of loving friends and relatives attended the impressive funeral services of the late Mrs. H.J. Wagner at St. Vincent's church last Friday morning. Rev. Fr. Moelter officieating. The Catholic choir sang favorite selections after which all that was mortal of this grand old mother was tenderly conveyed to our Silent City, where she now rests in peace.
For the past several years the deceased had been failing rapidly in health and during the past two years had suffered much pain from the terrible disease diabetes. However, during this period all the care and love that skilled physicians and an anxious household could devise and apply for her comfort were brought into play, but the fiat of Him who rules our incomings and our outgoings and after a few days struggle, the sufferer's spirit took flight to that home the Christian believes is the fulfillment of life everlasting.
Mary Ste'er was born in Alsace-Lorraine in the year of 1854 and was of French and German parentage. In 1873 she came to America and for several years made her home with a sister at Tiffin, Ohio. In 1876 at West Bend, Wisconsin, she became the wife of H. J. Wagner and in 1907 Mr. and Mrs. Wagner came to Mott, filing on a homestead in this vicinity. Besides a loving husband and brother, the deceased is survived by seven children: Mrs. hedwig Mooney, Mrs. J.K. Murray, Miss Louise Wagner, Frank Wagner, all of of Mott; Mrs. G. Honsey of Aberdeen, SD and Mrs. J Fenstel of Sheboygan, Wis., and Otto Wagner of Carlyle, Montana.
Mrs. Wagner was a highly respected and well loved woman and was a faithful member of the church. It is difficult for us to pay a fitting tribute to the memory of so noble a woman -- one whose every day life was embellished by the most charming and lovable attributes of her sex. A perfect lady at all times -- under all circumstances, she seemed born to inspire the love and respect of all who were so fortunate as to be acquainted with her. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband and surviving relatives.
