Bedford, Prudence Jean

"Prue" Bedford, a resident of Reseda for more than 50 years, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2009.

Born in Arlington, South Dakota on May 23, 1920, to Lyman and Jane LaBay, Prue moved to Hollywood in 1938. She lived on Hollywood and Vine and attended Los Angeles City College. During World War II, she worked as a "Rosie-the-Riveter" on the Lockheed P38 Lightning fighter plane in Burbank. Prue married George Edmund Bedford in 1949. They moved to Reseda in 1951 and raised four children. Prue worked at The May Company for 21 years.

Prue liked to entertain and decorate for holidays. She was active in genealogy, compiled photo albums, and kept personal journals. She was a member of the Sierra Club and attended St. Joseph the Worker Church in Reseda. Prue was devoted to her family and cherished her life-long friends who will remember her feisty sense of humor and wonderful smile.

Prue is survived her children, Jane Harrier (Jeffrey Harrier) of Granada Hills; Stephan Bedford (Katie O'Hara) of Los Alamos; Thomas Bedford (Kris Eitland) of San Diego; Patricia Bedford of Los Angeles; her grandchildren, Ashley Harrier; Elizabeth Harrier; Morgan Bedford; Derek Bedford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial mass will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Euphrasia Church, 11766 Shoshone Ave., Granada Hills.
