Elice Valera (also known as Jeanne Mavie) was born in 1903 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah.

She is listed in the IGI Individual Record at familysearch.org as Jeanne Marie Bloomquist, born November 2, 1908 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah to Benjamin V. Bloomquist and Annetta Westenskow. However, Utah State Archives gives her date of birth as 2 November 1903, and Rose Hills Memorial Park lists her as Jeanne Mavie Griggs.

A family member tells the story that Jeanne changed her name to Jeanne Mavie "because it sounded French." I cannot think of a better reason to change one's name!

Jeanne was born at 5 Swan's Court to Ben V. and Nettie Bloomquist. Their residence at the time was 6 between 3ed and 4th West. Her birth was reported by Mrs. Lyngberg.

She appeared in the census in 1910 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. She was six years old.

She appeared in the census on 10 January 1920 at 831 McClelland Avenue in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. She was sixteen years old.

She married William M. Ausland about 1930.

She second married Samuel Edward Griggs on 18 May 1937. Sam was born 13 March 1901 in Thompsonville, Franklin County, Illinois to Alfred Wiseman Griggs and his wife, Nola Grayson Pugh.

Jeanne died on 16 March 1965 in Los Angeles County, California, and was buried by her Sammy's side.

She had Social Security Number 557-12-0956, issued in California before 1951.

Although married twice, Jeanne never had any children.
