"The Son of Jacob Bopp" is listed as one of the victims of the Johnstown Flood of 1889, one of the worst man made disasters in our nations history. 2209 people died, 400 of whom were children. The first name of Jacob's son has never been verified. The flood claimed the life of this Son of Jacob, his father Jacob, sisters Katie and Monica. An infant sister died in 1890 suggesting her mother was pregnant with Catherine at the time of the flood and named her after her daughter Katie that had died in the flood. A brother Willie survived and lived to adulthood along with his Mother Mary.
