I was fortunate enough to speak with Lissa the night before she died. She was upbeat, happy, and we had a lovely chat and caught up on everything. She was really happy with things and life in general. Business was good and her teaching position was satisfying. She was finally in love and thoroughly enjoying all that it brought with it. She had recently come back from a trip with James, Texas I think, and she even rode a steer. Go Lissa! We laughed a lot on that phone call and I will always be thankful that I was home when you called. It was our last conversation and we ended it with an I love you. :o)
We were going to try to get together that next weekend, for lunch but it wasn't to be. The next day she was in a great mood. She and James just landed a couple new web site jobs and she was really happy. She headed down the mountain to get to her job at the college. Lissa lost control of her car and her life was over in a flash and all too soon.
I miss my friend Lissa and am thankful for the times we spent together. She was a daughter, sister, mom, grandmother, lover, and friend and we all miss her very much. She had a relatively short life but I think she packed a lot of living in the time she was here.

I'd Be There
Life has run you over
But you held out with your pride
I know your heart is broken
But you keep it all inside
And I can see a glimmer
Of a pain too strong to bear
If you'd let somebody hold you
I'd be there
