Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sadorus, with Pastor William Gauger officiating. Burial will be at Craw Cemetery, Sadorus. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Monday) at Freese Funeral Home, 407 N. Bourne, Tolono.
Mr. Schroeder was born on April 11, 1928, in Champaign, a son to Walter H. and Ida S. Morenz Schroeder.
Survivors include a brother, Walter E. Schroeder of Champaign; three nieces, Debbie Clark of Ogden, Diane Schaub of Fisher and Denise (Mark) Dalton of Mahomet; and six grandnieces and nephews, Jennifer Clark, Erin Clark, Brett Clark, Chris Clark, Nathen Schaub and Matthew Schaub.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a nephew.
Mr. Schroeder was a life member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he sang with the choir for 65 years, was the Sunday School superintendent and teacher, and held many positions on the church board. He played basketball in the Walther Basketball League.
He was employed at Illini Studio Photography and was night maintenance at Lincoln Square Mall, Urbana. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. His hobbies included photography, baseball, and going to plays and musicals in New York.
