Jack was born in Minneapolis and grew up in Richfield, a suburb of the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area of Minnesota in 1945 to Leonard E. and Lois M Gerlinger. After graduating from Richfield High School in 1963 he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Management from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1968. Jack married Linda Marie Bivona Kittelstad on May 11, 2002 on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. They lived first in Highlands Ranch, Colo. and subsequently moved to North Port, Fla.
Jack began his career with the Fruehauf Trailer Corporation in 1970 as a trainee in Minneapolis, Minn. Moving up he became a truck equipment representative and then worked his way up to branch sales manager. In 1987 he transferred to Denver, Colo. as branch manager and continued in that position until 1998. He then accepted a position with Mobile Mini Inc. initially in sales consistently finishing in the top 10% of salespersons company wide. He then became the branch manager overseeing production, trucking and sales until his retirement in 2012.
Jack was an easygoing person who loved the outdoors, golf and enjoyed singing karaoke.
Jack is survived by his wife Linda, a brother Jeff in Prescott, Ariz., two sons from his prior marriage, Jake and Luke Gerlinger in New Brighton, Minn., a stepdaughter, Christina Kittelstad, in Palm Harbor, Fla. and stepchildren, Sean Sjodin in Denver, Colo. and Heather Sjodin-Friesen in Lakeville, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Jill Dahlin.
