Judith Ann Bliss
Judith Ann Bliss, 79, of North Port, FL passed away peacefully November 28, 2021. Judy was born November 13, 1942 in Buffalo, NY to Robert and Jeanette Dieckman. She had two brothers, Robert Dieckman, who predeceased her in 2011 and Jay Dieckman, who resides in Buffalo, NY.
Judy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Richard "Rick"Bliss and children, Scott Bulkley (Kathy) of Columbus, OH, Mark Bulkley (Robin) of Houston, TX, Erin McLaud of Painted Post, NY, Jason Bliss (Lyndsay) of La Salle, IL and KatieDiPalma (Greg) of Columbus, OH. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, David, Allison, Brian, Sam, Jack, Abby, Lauren, Anna, Lynn, Claire, Bella, Eleanor, and Caroline. Being a mother and grandmother was everything to her. Also surviving are two loving sisters-in-law, Patricia Dieckman and Victoria (Howard) Zingler and 7 nieces and nephews.
Judy graduated from Kensington High School and Erie Community College in Buffalo where she earned a degree in Dental Hygiene. She moved to Corning, NY in 1963 and worked for many years as a Dental Hygienist at Corning Dental Associates.
Judy and Rick lived in Painted Post, NY during their working years. They lived in Europe for several years and travelled extensively where many friends were made along the way.
Judy and Rick were members of Christ Episcopal Church in Corning, NY. Judy loved her community in Corning. She was a Sunday School teacher at Christ Church for many years, volunteered with Corning Meals on Wheels and was a docent at the Corning Museum of Glass.
Judy had a gentle and kind nature that was quickly evident when she met new friends. She touched many lives and was a loving mother figure with a calming presence to so many throughout the years. Her life passions were her children, grandchildren, cooking, family gatherings, traveling to new places, making friends, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills.
Judy enjoyed her final years with friends and family. She recently celebrated her last birthday with her husband, all her children, brother and sisters-in-law, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or Christ Episcopal Church in Corning, NY.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held in summer of 2022 at Christ Episcopal Church. Details of the service will be shared at a later date.
