For 20 years Rich served as Professor at SJSU's School of Information Systems and Technology, Lucas College and Graduate School of Business. He was a person of widely varied interests, and a health and fitness advocate. Rich's greatest career satisfaction lay in the number of former students who later returned to thank him for his life and career guidance.
He is survived by a sister, Kasey, of Encinitas, Calif.; a brother, Tim (Barbara) of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends and professional colleagues across the country. Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ellen Burkhard of Los Altos; and a brother, Frank, also of Los Altos.
A memorial service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Saturday, February 12, at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery Chapel, Los Altos. Internment is private.
