Mrs. Flanders was born in Tunbridge, Jan. 31, 1863, one of a family of eight children. She passed her early life and school days in Tunbridge. In April 1885, she was married to Frank H. Flanders of Tunbridge, who passed away in October 1885. Mrs. Flanders did housework at various places until 1897, when she went to Springfield, Mass., where she worked for five years. After that she kept house for her father, then she went to Orange to work until about thirty years ago she came to Chelsea, and has worked in Chelsea and Tunbridge as long as she was able, after which she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Will Blake, in Tunbridge, and her daughter, Mrs. Harry Sanborn, in Chelsea. For four years she had been in very poor health.
Mrs. Flanders was a member of the Sons of Veterans Auxiliary and the Ladies' Aid of Chelsea.
A prayer was given at the Sanborn home by Rev. Mr. Heseltine of Waterbury. Funeral services were held at North Tunbridge church, Mr. Heseltine officiating. Sherman Carpenter played the organ and Mrs. Mitchell sang two hymns. Burial was at the Spring Road cemetery in Tunbridge. The bearers were Ed and Ernest Blake, Geryl Bowen and Glenn Sanborn.
Besides her daughter, she leaves three grandchildren, Doris and Glenn Sanborn and Mrs. James Kennedy, and three great-grandsons, one sister and several nephews and nieces.
