Mr. John Chapman was actually born John Hicks later changing his name to Chapman as an adult. He was the son of Mrs. Margaret Hicks-Billups. During his youth he was educated in the Camden public school systems and graduated from Camden High School. He went in Mechanics and was an accomplished auto body Technician and painter working at Ford Motors in Stratford NJ then moving on to a private shop in Delaware.
John was first married to his first love Mrs. Frances Coles in November of 1966. In this union they were blessed with three beautiful children Christopher, Dwight and Angela. He lost his beloved Frances in 1985. In July of 2004 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Carol O'Neal after being together for 21 years. He was reunited with a son Gregory in the early 2000's and they built a great father and son relationship. Uncle Clutch felt blessed to be alive to see him. Upon retirement he enjoyed cooking, watching old westerns ,and spending time with family and listening to good music! Everyone loved eating his spicy crabs in the summer! Uncle Clutch was a straight shooter who has told it like it was when he spoke. His sense of humor was a comedic genius at times keeping everyone laughing during family functions. His energy spoke for it's self.
In 2017 he had a severe stroke from undiagnosed Malignant hypertension (high blood pressure that stays high). On May 10th 2021 he went into cardiac arrest at home and was resuscitated by ems upon arrival and taken to Cooper Hospital where he was placed on a ventilator before passing away on his own the next day. His loss was devastating for his entire family and he's still truly missed everyday.
