Meredith Evelyn Hightower Norwine was the second of five children, born November 19th, 1929 in Faulkner County, AR to Frank Mason Hightower and Ira Wilma Goff Hightower. She died Sunday, July 17th, 2022 in Conway, AR at the age of 92.

Meredith spent most of her life in the Conway area. She was known to be a fierce competitor in anything she participated in. She was extremely athletic, playing competitive softball well into her 50's, and was well known on the competitive bean bag circuit, which was played in many senior centers and nursing homes in her later years.

She loved her family and was the protector, or enforcer, for all her siblings. It was not unusual for her to settle a score so to speak, if you happened to mess with one of her younger brothers. She attended basketball games at Hendrix college from 2006-2009, watching her nephew's son who played for the Warriors. Her protective spirit was ever present as a fan. Legend has it she commented about "socking someone in the kidney" to get even with an opponent for dirty play. She made an amazing Karo Nut pie and her fiery red hair was always perfectly styled.

She leaves behind her brother, Charles Hightower of Conway and a host of nieces and nephews in AR, MS and OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert D. Norwine; her son, Robert D. Norwine Jr.; her sister, Odeal Hopkins and two brothers, Carlton and Clark Hightower.

No services are planned at this time.
