Geraldine Wood of Gloversville, New York, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at her home with her family at her side after a battle with cancer. She was 73.

Geraldine was born in 1948 in Amsterdam, New York, a daughter of Kasmir and Josephine (Papierniak) Wohn. She graduated from Perth Central School. Gerri continued her education with an A.A. degree from FMCC, a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta, and a Masters from SUNY Albany. Geraldine began her career with the Greater Johnstown School District in 1970, where she taught elementary education at Glebe Street, Jansen Avenue, and Warren Street Schools. She took delight in teaching cursive handwriting and proper grammar, as well as using the latest technology in the classroom. Gerri retired in 2004 after teaching fifth grade at Pleasant Avenue Elementary, with a focus on science education.

Gerri enjoyed aerobics, hiking, kayaking, reading, word puzzles, and drinking fine wine. Later in life, she enjoyed spending summers in Old Forge, NY and vacationing during the winter on Sanibel Island, FL.

Geraldine married Stephen Wood on August 12, 1978. She is survived by her husband, her son: Nicholas Wood of Austin, TX; her siblings: Anthony Wohn of Galway, NY, Rudolph (Jacqueline) Wohn of Easley, SC, and Pauline (Late Janet Knapp) Wohn of North Fort Myers, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents: Kasmir and Josephine Wohn; and her sister and brother-in-law: Joan (John) Wegrowski.

Gerri's family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, on Monday, August 8, 2022, where a Funeral Service will follow at 1:00PM with Pastor Joyce Royal officiating. Interment will take place privately at the family's convenience.
