Wyoming County Times, April 13, 1933:
Mr. George E. Stone, who had been a resident of Warsaw for nearly fifty years, passed away on Thursday evening, April 6th at the Warsaw hospital, after an illness of several weeks. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Stone and was born at Wethersfield, Vermont, May 8, 1960. Mr. Stone possessed a New England type of character with a strong conscience and tenacious loyalty to his convictions. He was strictly temperate both in his personal habits in his belief in prohibitory laws. Forty-seven years ago he was one of the lay speakers for no license at a popular meeting held in the Methodist church. He had a genial, kindly spirit, a real sense of humor, and was popular with his many friends. He possessed patience, self control and great courage in bearing trouble, sickness and sorrow. One of his most marked characteristics was faithfulness to his duties and his promises. He was always dependable in his responsibilities. He took a deep personal interest in the welfare of others. He loved supremely his home and his church. He was a member of the Baptist church, had been for several years one of its deacons, had served on the board of trustees, and had been superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a sincere, devoted and consistent Christian. He was a member of the Maccabees and of the Order of Odd Fellows. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Caroline Armour Stone, by 2 sons, Everett Stone of Rochester and Dr. Neil Stone, who is a practicing physician and children's specialist at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and one daughter, Mrs. Florence Hubbard of Attica. One brother, James Stone, lives in Springfield, Vt., and one sister, Mrs. Emma Sias at Northhampton, Mass.
