Funeral Notice for J. C. Bryant published in the Atlanta (GA) Constitution on Saturday, January 21, 1978, page 29, column 1, cites burial in Crest Lawn Memorial Park.

J. C. was a native of Bibb County, Georgia; a veteran who served with the U. S. Navy during World War I; and was a salesman with Taylor Hardware in Atlanta. He was survived by his wife, the former Ezma Pearl Jordan; no other survivors were mentioned.

John Carlton was the son of Thaddeus Jackson "Thad" Bryant (1847-1913) and Sarah Ann (Hatfield) Bryant (1863-1928). He had eight known siblings: Luther Jackson (1883-1965); William Shovie (~1885-1954); Ira T. (~1885-1944); Lula (1887-1907); Eslie (Mrs. Earl W. Howard Sr; 1889-1923); Leola "Ola (Mrs. Marvin Lester Griffin; 1892-1970); Ellie (Mrs. Griffin Martin Dobbs; 1893-1967); and Needham Elmer (1897-1958).

In 1900, Carlton and his family are living in Militia District 771, Houston County, GA
In 1910, Carlton and his family are living in Rutland, Bibb County, GA. His sister Lula's death is corroborated in this census.
On June 5, 1917, John Carlton (age 22) is living and working in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama. He is a boiler maker for Gulf City Boiler Works. He lists his mother (Sarah) and sister (Ellie) as dependents. His sisters Ola and Esley are already married so they are likely not his dependents.
I am unable to find Carlton, his widowed mother or in the 1920 US census.
I am unable to find Carlton in the 1930 US census but find his still single wife in her parents' household.
Carlton and Pearl marry sometime between the 1930 and 1940 US censuses. They live in Fulton County, GA in for all sources found for them. No children are found for Carlton and Pearl in these censuses.

Pearl passes away in 2006.
