The 106th Machine Gun Battalion was assigned to Camp Wadsworth, SC, for training. November 12, 1917, he was transferred to the School of Military Aeronautics, University of Texas, Austin. In January 1918 he was transferred to the aviation school at Kelly Field, Texas then to Leon Spring Training Vamp, Texas. He was appointed a 2nd Lieutenant, June 6, 1918.
He was discharged from the service, December 23, 1918.
He served in the 1st NY Cavalry and the 106th Machine Gun Battalion with his brother Stanley Ernest Bosanko
