OBITUARY: Richard "Rich" Cornell, February 17, 1960 ~ December 30, 2022.

Richard Duane Cornell, 62, died following a courageous battle with throat cancer at his home in rural Prescott, Wisconsin on December 30, 2022.

Rich was born on February 17, 1960, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to George and Rose (Sanzin) Cornell. Rich married Carrie Baumgartner on December 11, 1981. Their union was blessed with three sons; Mitch, Nate and Chad. Their marriage ended in divorce. On July 27, 2016, Rich married Denise (Falteisek) LaCroix in Louisville, Kentucky.

Rich owned and managed Kennedy Transmission Shop, and then transitioned to working at the Ford Motor Company in Highland Park, St. Paul, Minnesota from 1997 to 2011. When the Ford Plant closed in Minnesota, Rich and Denise began working at the Ford Fern Valley Plant in Louisville, Kentucky where he retired after 20 years of employment. Following his retirement, Rich and Denise moved back to Prescott, Wisconsin in 2018.

Rich is survived by his wife, Denise; his sons, Mitch, Nate, and Chad (Jennessa) Cornell; grandson, Teddy Cornell; sister, Lynn (Chuck) Mausolf; brothers, Jim Cornell, Donnie Cornell, Mark Cornell, and Pat (Lisa) Cornell; stepdaughter, Felicia (Andrew) Kofski; and stepson, JD (Nikki) LaCroix; step-grandchildren, Jayden Bethel, Harley Bethel, Tanner Bethel, Bayler Bethel, Bella Kofski and Wyatt Kofski; mother-in-law, Sylvia Falteisek; sister-in-law, Cindy (Bill) Penker; brothers-in-law, Chris Falteisek, and Andy Falteisek. He is further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and George Cornell; siblings, Rose Mary, Patricia, George and Georgina; and father-in-law, Frank Falteisek.

Special thanks to the St. Croix Hospice and all of the healthcare workers who took such loving care of Rich.

Memorials are requested to be given to the discretion of Rich's family.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Christ Episcopal Church of Woodbury, 7305 Afton Road, Woodbury, MN 55125. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Prescott, Wisconsin.
