Robert Allen Smith, ----------, Shalimar Florida, passed away peacefully at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center on May 30, 2021. He was 83 years of age. Present at his side was his wife of 63 years, Janet, and their three children Beverly, Allen "Zack" and Elizabeth.
Robert was born at his grandparent's farm in Brimley, Michigan on September 16, 1937. After his active-duty tour in the Air Force, Robert worked for various defense contractors that took the family to California and New Mexico. While in New Mexico he spent a year and a half in the New Mexico Air National Guard. They finally relocated to Gladstone, Michigan, where he worked for Michigan Bell Telephone. He enlisted in the Michigan Army National Guard in 1972 and served until his retirement from the military in 1987 as a Master Sergeant (E-8). He retired from AT&T in 1990 and moved to Naples, FL. Robert will be cremated and his interment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Pensacola Florida. In lieu of flowers, the Smith family requests that donations be made to the Bob Hope Village Widow's Fund in Bob's name.
