Dr. Gilmore (Bim) Stone Wheeler, 82, of Martinsburg passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
He was born July 20, 1940, in Highland Falls, New York. He was the son of the late General Earle Gilmore Wheeler, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Betty Howell Wheeler.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Dr. Wheeler received his undergraduate and master's degrees from George Washington University and his doctorate in mathematics from Catholic University. He was President of Business Information Management Corporation, a computer consulting firm. His company designed large, complex computer systems and data networks. He also held a patent on an innovative wireless mobile communications system. Dr. Wheeler was a military historian and enjoyed researching and collecting military artifacts.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Weinstein Wheeler; three sons, William G. Wheeler and wife Laura of Belleville, IL, John R. Wheeler and his wife Jennifer of Clifton, VA and Jonathan D. Aronoff and wife Jenny of Bethesda, MD. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Chelsey Wheeler, Will Wheeler, Eden Aronoff and Noah Aronoff; two great grandchildren, Hunter McCarthy and Rose Wheeler; and his beloved dogs Barney and Bleu.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday, March 11 at Norbeck Memorial Park in Olney, MD.
