Emma McElroy (nee Thomas) was born to Will and Lillie Thomas on April 21, 1940, in Anguilla, MS; where she also attended elementary school. The family moved to Chicago Heights, IL in 1956, where she attended Bloom Township High School. At an early age, she professed Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church.
She was united in holy matrimony to Nathaniel McElroy on February 25, 1961. This union was blessed with four sons; Clarence, Kyle, Terrence, and Eric.
Early on, she attended Prairie State College and became a certified seamstress. Her love for sewing and cooking was only surpassed by her love of Christ, family, and friends. Emma was employed with Oak Forest Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and St. James Hospital until she retired in 1997.
Emma loved to bowl and as an avid bowler, she bowled in leagues for many years. Additionally, Emma and her family loved to travel together. On September 15, 2016, Emma was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
