Winthrop: A telegram received in this village Tuesday forenoon by relatives advising that Ambrose Courser of Winthrop died in Deland, Florida, Monday evening, the 25th. Mr. & Mrs. Courser left Winthrop by automobile October 5th. Although Mr. Courser had not been feeling too well of late, it was not thought his condition was serious. Born in Stockholm April 20, 1878, He was one of two sons of Homer & Ellen Phippen Courser. His father passed away many years ago and his mother in January 1930. The family lived for many years on a farm in Buckton. He was twice married, his first wife, the former Miss Myrtle (Minnie) Gary, died many years ago. His second wife, Mrs. Ola Converse, whom he married in 1929, survives. Other survivors are a brother, Rodney Courser of Lynn, Mass.; two nieces, the Misses Muriel and Beryl Courser, also of Lynn; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Mable Wilcox Tilden, Winthrop; a stepson, Lloyd Converse, of Hopkinton and several cousins in the vicinity. Mr. Courser was employed for several years in the twenties and thirties by Potsdam paper mill owners on Depot Street, Potsdam, working the night shift nearly all the time. He was a general handyman around Winthrop for many years, being skillful in many trades. He will be greatly missed by his many friends in this section.
