Bessie Lee Nantz Cornett McQueen, 90, of London (formerly of Jackson County), died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Annville, Ky. She was a daughter of the late Cal and Eva Roberts Nantz, born to them on Sept. 5, 1917 in Hyden, Ky. She was a well known Laurel County and Jackson County homemaker and was a member of the Mount Zion Church of Christ in London. She united in marriage to Willie Rubin Cornett and to this union seven children were born. Her husband Willie Rubin Cornett preceded her in death in 1962. Then she united in marriage to Hubert McQueen. He also preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her parents Cal and Eva Roberts Nantz; her two sons Larry Cornett and Gary Cornett were stillborn; her daughter Mae Geraldine Cornett; her stillborn granddaughter Angela Cornett; her two stepchildren Layton McQueen and Doris Robinson; her four sisters Essie Smith, Oma King, Phronia Murray, and Zona Deaton; and her four brothers Robert Cal Nantz, Albert Nantz, Watt Nantz, and Everett Nantz. She is survived by her loving family: her four children William Eugene Cornett, of East Bernstadt, Ky., Coy Leon Cornett, of Annville, Peggy Marlene Cornett Sparks and Vererly Sue Cornett Lewis, both of London; her three stepchildren R.G. McQueen, Roger McQueen and Veddith McQueen Tankersly; her sister Jessie Shepherd, of London; her two brothers Carl "Perk" Nantz, of London, and J.W. Nantz, of Hamilton, Ohio; her 10 grandchildren David Cornett, Vickie Peters, Tim Cornett, Anita Carpenter, Jeff Cornett, Rodney Cornett, Ronnie Sparks, Rebecca Sparks, Lisa Wolfenbarger, and Gina McCleeney; her 18 great-grandchildren Ashley, Amanda, Bobby Allen, Matthew, Julie, Kailin, Kira, Jordan, Logan, Kassidy, Macey, Seth, Kelsey, Trey, Lori, Justin, Justina, and Billy; and by her two special great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. Burial followed at Pine-Grove Cemetery in Clay County, Ky. Those serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons David Cornett, Tim Cornett, Jeff Cornett, Rodney Cornett, Ronnie Sparks, and Matthew Peters.
