Carla Mae McGarvey, 92, of Reynoldsville, PA, went to be with her savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, while at home. Carla was born on June 9, 1931, to the late John Kelley and Nellie Mae (Kephart) Killion in Irvona, PA. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church for over 60 years where she taught children's Sunday School. Carla was a homemaker, loved raising her children, and enjoyed playing many games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was co-owner with her late husband J. Lynn McGarvey of McGarvey Equipment Inc. in Reynoldsville. Upon their retirement, both enjoyed years of serving with RVICS (Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service) wherein they volunteered their skills and talents at Christian Ministries throughout the USA and Canada. Carla is survived by five children: Linda Jo (McGarvey) Wells, Daniel L. McGarvey, Richard W. (Denise) McGarvey, James A. (Catherine) McGarvey, and Timothy (Patricia) McGarvey; one sister: Sandra Joan (William "Unk") Miles; nine grandchildren: Matthew Wells, Kelly (Doug) Surkala, Robert (Kalyn) McGarvey, Adam McGarvey, Joshua (Olivia) McGarvey, Caleb (Esther) McGarvey, Cody Roy (Ashley) McGarvey, Alexander Jared (Chelsea) McGarvey, and Lauren Marie McGarvey. Carla is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Dani Mae Wells, Eric Surkala, Hannah Surkala, Decker McGarvey, Shaw McGarvey, Mack McGarvey, Roxy McGarvey, Brooke McGarvey, and Reagan Jane McGarvey. In addition to her parents and husband, Carla is preceded in passing by one grandson Eric McGarvey, nine sisters, and one brother. Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Temple Baptist Church, 590 Lincoln Drive, DuBois, PA 15801, from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will take place, also at the church, immediately following the viewing, beginning at 1pm and officiated by Pastor Kevin Orndorff. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
